Pairing a player

Enter the 6-character code, assign a playlist, troubleshoot common failures.

The pair flow

  1. Launch the player app on the device. A 6-character code displays.
  2. In the dashboard go to Screens → Pair new.
  3. Type the code. Pick a playlist and a location.
  4. The screen swaps from the code view to the playlist within 10 seconds.

Codes expire

Pair codes live for 10 minutes. If yours expires before you enter it, the player auto-rotates to a fresh code — no restart needed.

Common failures

  • "Invalid code" — usually a typo. The code never includes the letter O or the number 0; if you see one it is the other.
  • "Code accepted but screen blank" — the playlist has no published scenes. Publish at least one scene then republish.
  • "Stuck on the code screen for >2 minutes" — the device cannot reach our WebSocket endpoint. Check firewall rules on port 443 to *.menupi.com.

Re-pairing an existing screen

If you replace hardware (e.g. swap a dead Fire Stick), go to the existing screen in the dashboard → Settings → Re-pair. The history (logs, schedules, assignments) is preserved.
